I made a detour to pick up Melissa, and Jules texted that he and the boys were heading up to Palau to get some "cheap wine." Okay, I thought. Sounds just fine to me.
Palau is styled after a Spanish tapas bar. The kind that you stumble onto in some back alley of Barcelona, Madrid, or Seville, and that is frequented by students, the guys that live in the building upstairs, and whatever other strays wandered in off the street. There are two kinds of sparkling wine to choose from - rosat and brut - and neither one is good (in fact, they really might be classified as shitty), but nonetheless they're great...
So yeah, I really liked this place.
The guy who runs it also serves up a few small snacks on his two electrical griddles - some sausages, cheese, or pressed sandwiches (I had a chorizo bocata which was reminiscent of simple street fare, and cost around three euros), and the atmosphere is cozy and just right.
