I've been to Fabbrica twice in the last month, and I'll probably go back again soon. It's officially my favorite pizza in Munich. It's Roman-style, thin crust, square-cut pizza (similar in style to Pizzesco, which I formerly reviewed). Anyway, the pizza here is awesome. My favorite thing to do is to go with a group and order one of their combinations of 4 pizzas "Quadrotte" (it's enough to feed 4-6 people, depending upon how hungry you are), which are shockingly affordable at 28 and 32 Euros, depending upon whether you go for the standard or deluxe pizza order.
I also love the atmosphere at Fabbrica. The restaurant is housed in a cavernous room in an old factory-like building, and the entryway is through the industrial back courtyard of the building. When you're looking into the courtyard from the street, staring at your app or scrap of paper with the address on it, you think, "no way, this can't be it" and keep walking, looking for a sign or something indicating that the restaurant is there. And then you double-back and think, "well, maybe?" And you are rewarded for tiptoeing into the courtyard and up the metal steps that look like a fire escape into the back door of the building. Because inside is a very cool, laid-back restaurant with colorful wooden chairs, dripping candles, chalkboards with the daily menu, a large bar next to a partially-open kitchen, and if it's a Friday or Saturday night, a DJ in the corner playing current hits. It's another one of those rare spots in Munich that feels like it's been imported from the likes of Portland or Seattle. And I guess I really like that kind of place! If you have a similar aesthetic and culinary leanings, you will as well.
