I woke up this morning to this sight out my living room window:
A perfect fall day in Munich... so after enjoying a cup of coffee, and giving my new washing machine a spin (phew! it worked! clean clothes!), I decided that it would be a good day to document in photos (just like Jules, Jenny, and Melissa did for me back in August).
First stop for the day: brunch with some colleagues. We met up at Cafe Haidhausen, which is a good, old-school Munich establishment across the river near Rosenheimerplatz. Like one of my other favorite haunts, Cafe Jasmin, Cafe Haidhausen is less German Wirtshaus and more Viennese Coffee House.
After brunch, I headed out to the Isar for a walk through the fall foliage and for some afternoon photo taking.
I circled up from the river, down Maximillianstrasse, to Odeonsplatz, where I caught the tail end of the Munich marathon (and made a mental note that I should sign up next year... but maybe for the half marathon. Anyone want to join me?)
Before ducking under the ropes to run across the marathon course, I made sure to rub the lion's nose and make a wish....
Back at home in the late afternoon, I settled onto this couch for a while to catch up on some of my favorite blogs and listen to some podcasts (and I learned that U2 has a new album. How did I miss that?).
And baked some cake.
Finally, I closed out the weekend by hopping on my bike and pedaling over to Emily's place for a night of girl bonding and good food. And last but not least, we bid Cy Bizzanelli (see CY, you DID make the blog!) a sad farewell from Europe.
